The list has been quiet for quite some time. I was surprised actually
not to have many messages about the "world record" halo display that occurred at the South Pole two weeks ago. There are many photos and ray-trace simulation available starting at:

http://www.spole.gov/internet/photos/0111halo

Also, on the sci.astro.amateur newsgroup a couple of days ago, someone in Minnesota (USA) described what seemed to be a vertical doubling of stars (naked-eye). If described correctly, this seemed to be some sort of extreme
mirage-type phenomenon.

Nothing interesting here in FLagstaff lately, although last night we did have both an ordinary 22-degree halo plus a corona around the Moon through thick cirrus and altostratus.
