Subject: Joining International Sidewalk Astronomy Ngiht



We'd like to invite amateur astronomy clubs and individual amateur
astronomers to help us on May 19, 2007 with the 1st International Sidewalk
Astronomy Night. We are hoping to get 1000 telescopes out on the streets on
that evening all over the world. So far, we have amateurs in several
countries that are taking part as well as several states in the US. We have
been informally contacting clubs and members, but now want to start posting
who is doing what and where.



There is a document attached that explains more about where, how, etc.
Please forward this email on to any amateurs you know who might be
interested in joining us.

an exact location, but make sure there is contact information that you don't
mind being posted. I would like to know as soon as possible who is

Like Sidewalk Astronomy, this is kind of a last minute thing. We've been
thinking about it for a couple of months, but I am just seriously getting to
work on it.



You might be asking "why have astronomy night when we already have astronomy
day?"  Do you take scopes to the people on Astronomy Day or do they come to
you? Our goal is to take telescope TO the public. We also wanted to honor
John Dobson and the best way we could think of to do that was to do what
he'd like all of us to do - take a scope out to the sidewalk.



Again, please join us and please, pass this email on to anyone you know. I
have tried to make email lists from websites that list clubs, but they are
terribly inaccurate  and the only other option is looking at each club on
the internet and finding contact information - which takes forever.  For
