Comet Machholz 2005 |

<- More comet photos
I didn't really intend to photograph auroras this night. Instead I was looking for the naked-eye comet Machholz. In this picture, the comet can be seen as a tiny dust spot near the Pleiades (the group of stars). This picture was taken in the middle of suburban lights in Hervanta, Tampere, Finland at 0.40. Camera settings: f/2.0, exposure 15 s, ISO 400 At 0.56When the aurora disapeared, the comet Machholz was more clearly visible.
Camera: Canon G3 with Soligor 2x tele, 8x zoom
