Comet Ikeya-Zhang 2002

Comet Ikeya-Zhang was a nice surprise in the evening sky.

This was our first chance to photograph a comet with our new digital camera. The local observatory in Tampere, Finland was the perfect place for a clear view over the city.

The lines in the picture have been added to point out the comet.

2.4.2007

In the beginning of April 2002, the comet passed near the Andromeda galaxy. The center of the galaxy can be seen in the picture as a dusty spot below the comet.
