Our romatic dinner changed into a photographing session when we noticed bright pillars in the sky of Tampere while heading home. For the first time, we now had two system cameras. All the pictures in this page have been taken in streetlight without a mount.

These ice chrystal pillars were a local phenomenon in Hervanta area. A center for alpine skiing is located nearby and they must have been spreading snow to the hills. The snow machines can create splendid ice chrystal displays if the winds are right.

The best display was seen near the Tampere University of Technology.

Near the end of the night the street lights cast some more complex halo formations as well.
