Coronado MaxScope40 Coronado MaxScope40

Coronado (Meade) MaxScope40 brass telescope for Sun light in hydrogen alpha with SolarMax40 BF10 ( 0,7Å front filter element ) and T-max ( wave length adjustment ).

91 % of atoms in our Sun are hydrogen. The hydrogen alpha is the first atomic transition in the Balmer series; wavelength = 656.3 nm. This absorption line of neutral hydrogen falls in the red part of the visible spectrum and is convenient for solar observations. The H-alpha line is used for observations of solar flares, filaments, prominences and the fine structures of other active regions.

Finding the Sun is easy by rough pointing and then looking into the eye piece holder.
Telescope was mounted on a Berlebach Reporter 8043 tripod with a Manfrotto ProBall 308RC.

I did not get a Canon EOS 20D focused with a nose piece so these are hand held shots at 800ISO, exposure 1/30 sec.

The Philips ToUcam focused on focal plane OK. I used different RegiStax3 processing option here.

So with this nose piece at and a Baader 2X triplet barlow I got my first image with granulation. Only the R-channel was stripped from the RAW-image.
