Hi Claudia and Wolfgang,

That's a strange red arc.

It's curvature and symmetry doesn't seem to be right for a halo arc but it is hard say anything sure about that when you have seen only one photo which doesn't show too much.

However, I made a color scanning for the image you sent. It seems that this strange arc has red light only. No green or blue peaks is revealed in my scanning. This is not typical for halo arcs in images. Even the faint supralateral arc in the image (down right from cza) shows peaks of green and blue colors when I scanned it. Well, this "color curve scanning" I used doesn't have too much scientific value but it does show this kind of nice details...

I have attached my scanning result as a file unk_cc.jpg (notice that I have to blur the image to reduce color noice of the original image).

Conclusion: I don't think it is a halo but I can't be sure. I just don't know what it is.

Jarmo
