In the beginning of this Bott/elliptical halo debate it was metioned that
multiple scattering hypothesis was suggested by Bottlinger. Bottlinger did
not
do that. The idea of multiple scattering for the elliptical halos came
from
Stanley Gedzelman, and the results of this idea was published in a paper
"Subsuns, Bottlinger's rings, and elliptical halos" by Lynch, Gedzelman
and
Fraser.
